If you had registered an account name on Steam, you won’t be able to change it later on. Even, if you contact Steam they’ll tell you, “you can either changed your username or create a new account.”

Warning! Once you create an account on Steam. Be careful of what account name you choose because Steam won’t let you change it later on.

Suggestion:

Steam should let users change their account name along with their username, instead of forcing them to create a new account.
